Small caps have underperformed for twenty years. So the Merrimack portfolio did not perform as advertised the last twenty years because Paul’s calculations goes back fifty years.

@BP_PE90

My allocation in my early 30s is:

10% – total us bond market index
15% – total international stock index
12% – us small cap index
13% – us mid cap index
50% – 500 index

I use automatic investing for my taxable account and review allotments annually, adjust if needed to gradually rebalance. I could probably simplify some with the total stock index instead of the 500, small and mid cap funds.

Opinions on the market diverge; some claim overvaluation due to rapid gains, while others cite strong economic fundamentals justifying high valuations. The notable surge in tech stocks, raises concern for my $600K portfolio given the index's increased tech concentration. What stocks, in terms of growth over the next ten years, could be the next APPL is my query.

Tae, what do you think about Professor G’s 3 fund strat? One broad based index fund, one growth fund, one value fund. For him it was S&P500, SCHG, SCHD. Allocations are broad-heavy with more tilt on value over time. Ditches bonds and international entirely. He says backtesting shows good results, but yeah it’s an interesting take for sure.

@RobertLupo

It would be interesting to see how these have preformed over time.

What do you think of 70% S&P 500, 20% international, and 10% bonds?
