Oh Lord… Basic training must have fallen off in a bad way. I went to basic training at Sand Hill in Fort Benning Georgia as Desert Shield was starting to kick off. Every one of our Drill Sgts was an absolute beast. We had a college Trialthalete who came in as an E-4 and looked like a mix between Brock lesnar and Michael Phelps. He came in with an attitude and the Drill Sgts had his brain so scrambled that he was transferred to a different training unit 3 weeks behind us after having a mental/emotional breakdown.
They train soldiers for a living and have seen the worst of the worst… They control when you eat, sleep, and use the toilet. You are never going to "show them up"…
This is some romantic BS they put in movies that only civillians who never served believe… I can tell you 90% of the stories in these comments sound like total bull$hit. But they are using drag queens to recruit soldiers these days… and I cant speak on training for non combat soldiers since I spent 8 years Infantry.
