Ethan Morse, who grew up on a farm in Potsdam, New York, had never seen the Tomb of the Unknown Solider before a friend invited him on a day trip to Arlington National Cemetery. That afternoon left a deep impression on him, and when he enlisted in the Army in the wake of 9/11, Morse knew he wanted to serve as a tomb guard. After training for one year, he was selected for sentry duty at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To hear the rest of Morse’s story, please visit and watch “The Mistake That Haunts This Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier” from the AARP original series “Reporting for Duty”.
