Ok no you didn't sell it AND had to buy the cake? If anything that should be what bothers them…

"I just wanted to taste her cake again"

@HexedAce

They would rather the recipe die than attempt to make it?? And when someone, who honestly has the right to do so; it was his wife, and I doubt it was some huge family secret, just wants that part of their loved one back they’re in the wrong??? Kids are jerks, I personally would love to know that the recipes I made were spread to other people, if anything its honoring her memory, and giving a little part of her into the world.

Spoiled kids, they should of just done it instead, they refused, its not op's fault.

@MikeAmend84

If the kids weren’t such dicks maybe it wouldn’t have to go to the bakery the father also went through a tough time.

If the cake is so great, I'm sure ur wife would approve to share the delight with more people, spread the joy

@mindcraftful

NTA it just seems like everyone is hurting still

@menchs_l7664

You are not a jerk… you did not share it to commercialize and profit from it but for you to remember the good times that with all good intentions is no longer there.

If you made money out of it and spent it for your late wife’s grave, the house or on anything that reminds you of her… that is honoring her. By sharing the recipe… her memory lives on.

Never mind what your kids said.., they did not even try to recreate the cake for you and treasure the memories that goes with it.
