People in the comments don't seem to realize how important and basically sacred a FAMILY recipe can be. It's usually only shared with very specific family members which obviously varies by family. But their mom might've been upset herself if he ever brought up sharing it with ANYONE other than their children. I can understand wanting to taste the cake again but he could've just asked some of her family as they likely know it instead of giving a bakery the recipe for dozens of other people to have. And some of you might say that's good and it should be shared, I say that unless that's what his wife would've wanted that it really isn't good and could very likely feel less special and less like their mom's special cake recipe. Sometimes it feels and honestly is better for the person to just leave something than it is to feel like it was taken from you.
