Modi Signals Respect for Ukraine Sovereignty in Zelenskiy Talks

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi signaled his backing for Ukrainian sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders even as he stood by his call for a diplomatic resolution to Russia’s war with the nation. #politics #worldnews #india #indian #ukraine #ukrainian #kyiv #russia #politics #zelensky

The comments, made during the Indian leader’s first visit to Kyiv since the war began, were among his most direct statements on the fallout of Russia’s full-scale invasion 2 1/2 years ago. Even as Ukraine has sought India’s support in driving back Russian aggression, Modi has refrained from criticizing the Kremlin’s attack.

“I want to assure you and the world of India’s respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Modi told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during their meeting, which lasted well longer than scheduled. “Solutions can be found through dialog and diplomacy — and we must move in that direction with both sides with no time to waste,” he said.

Funny how willing everyone is to negotiate away Ukrainians' territory and future safety in the name of peace. Ukraine doesn't need a " neutral negotiator" to bargain away it's sovereignty in the name of peace. Ukraine needs the solidarity of the democratic countries to stand up to the aggression of brutal dictators. Appeasement doesn't work and any negotiated settlement that requires Ukraine to give territory or the safety of it's citizens in exchange for a fragile "peace" is dangerous appeasement and returns the world to the lawless jungle that our fathers died in two world wars to reform. To surrender Ukraine to aggression is to undermine the post war balance that has brought us comparative stability and prosperity and to return to a world where might makes right and there are no rules.

Sadly, Selensky can't buy anything for this statement. It would have been important for Modi to clearly condemn Russia's aggression. He should have made it clear to Putin that he must withdraw from Ukraine. Only then can there be a solution through dialog. Unfortunately.

Für Indien eine mega miese Situation.
Die Amerikaner vertrauen ihnen nicht bedingungslos.
Alleine kann kann Indien China aber nicht gegenüber treten.
Was soll Indien machen wenn nicht auf RuZZland bauen?
