Not to make light of this problem & ad – awareness of the damage addiction causes is important & this spot really is punch-in-the-gut effective – but Denis Leary's right; a whole load of really talented people died, leaving us w/a bunch of mediocre hacks to suffer through.

The last one was 23. Holy fuck.

lol. I was the creative director for this ad. It was written by a copywriter in my group. It won a Lion at the Cannes International Film Festival. I hated the ad. As an addict/alcoholic myself, I always felt these messages should be aimed at friends and family of addicts. Which they are now. Hendrix's father tried to sue the ad agency and partnership, maintaining that his son died of a heart attack, not drug addiction

@DuplicatedOnce

I liked the Harold Weir version better…

@mordredt02

I'm guessing this was before Kurt Cobain's passing.

This commercial is so condescending, it makes these people look like criminals. I don't care if Jimi Hendrix was on drugs, he wrote Purple Haze and Castles Made of Sand, he was awesome.

@fever_spike

Rest in peace Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Belushi
