I'm not as sure about New Mexico, but you can ask a bunch of migrants how easy it is to cross the Arizona desert, especially in summer. (regularly 43.3 – 46°C) 🏜 Hundreds of skeletons 💀 are found every year, and that's with us trying to help them, leaving water out, etc, not kill them. The weather does that all by itself. But there are plenty of citizens who own multiple guns, and would defend our homes.
