It didn't backfire, unless you believe the celebrities and the election loss are related. Listen to Trump voters, they voted for their own reasons many of which sensible people can easily tear apart their logic. Voters didn't care he is a criminal, wasn't good for them first time around, they don't understand TARIFF'S, see Ukraine as a far off war (naive 1800's World view). They have the right to vote how they choose hut don't expect worldwide respect for being gullible and poorly informed.
