I dont think it does any of that. I do believe it helps prevent sweat getting all over your hands for better ball handling and shooting, much like headbands were used for. Its why arm sleeves are primarily worn on shooting arms

I used to wear knee sleeves after several injuries. It could be placebo but God did it feel better
