China’s military says it has launched drills surrounding Taiwan.
The People’s Liberation Army says the exercises are a “stern warning” against what it calls “separatist acts”.
This may be a response to Taiwan’s National Day celebrations where Taiwan President Lai Ching-Te reiterated the nation’s independence.

It was the US that forced Taiwan to abandon its nuclear program that was planned as a deterance against China, and in return US at its discretion sell billions of outdated second hand conventional weapons to Taiwan from 1979. Skynews have no clue about whats going on in own country let alone foreign countries

I think Mr Lee Kuan Yew, the late Prime Minister of Singapore had said that the future of Taiwan is not to be determined by the wishes of the people of Taiwan as the Taiwan’s international fate was, in fact, sealed a long time ago at the Cairo Conference in 1943 …. because the Allies of WWII had agreed that to end WWII, Japan had to surrender unconditionally and to return Manchuria, Taiwan, and all the islands/reefs/islets in the Taiwan Strait back to China and the Chinese people.
